After School Program
We take applications for the After School Program at Anvil Academy in August and September and again in December. We then schedule interviews and select the students who will benefit from the program.
We have 8 openings for students, age 14 and older, who want to commit to an intense training program. It is open to Newberg High students as well as Catalyst, Private schools and home school students.
The after school program starts Oct 1 and runs from 3 pm until 6 pm, Tuesday through Thursday, for 3 months, and then the 2nd session runs from Feb 1 until the end of April (we do take December and holidays off). Not only can the student receive credit through Newberg High School but they also receive a certificate recognizing competency in basic woodworking through the Woodwork Career Alliance.
If you, or a student you know, could really benefit from this program do not let the cost scare you off. This is a program that benefits the students as well as the community, so there are funds available to help cover the cost. The program costs $3,500/year but scholarships and funding is available. Also a portion of the tuition will be worked off by being a part of community projects that Anvil is involved in.
And we would love to talk to anyone who would like to support this program, either financially, with time or with tool donations.
